Fiorentina have pulled off a major transfer coup by signing Chelsea target Valeri Bojinov.

The Bulgarian sensation has bagged double figures for Lecce this season and has long been targeted by Chelsea.

The Blues always seemed to be leading the chase and a summer move to Stamford Bridge looked highly likely.

However, just days after Chelsea offered in the region of ‚é¼12 million - Fiorentina have now struck a deal worth ‚é¼13 million.

Chilean Jaime Andres Valdes has moved to Lecce as part of the deal, which is the second major deal for The Viola - after they also secured the signing of Atalanta's gifted young forward Giampaolo Pazzini.

Pazzini has cost Fiorentina ‚é¼7.5 million and takes their spending to over ‚é¼20 million in just 24 hours, after they also landed Marco Donadel - who had been with Sampdoria - from Milan.

Atalanta have bolstered their options with the signing Stephen Makinwa in joint ownership with Genoa, who in-turn have signed Vincenzo Italiano from Verona to cover his departure.

Mariano Stendardo has also arrived from Perugia, along with Biagio Pagano from Sampdoria - who have landed Andrea Gasbarroni from Palermo to bolster their squad.

Damiano Zenoni has left Atalanta to join up with Udinese.

Meanwhile, Lecce have confirmed their Brazilian Rodney Babu is out for the rest of the season due to a knee injury.

Fiorentina also announced that their Czech stopper Tomas Ujfalusi would be out of action for a month, also due to a knee problem.
