Argentinian joins Nerazzurri on loan from Palermo

Inter Milan have signed Argentinian centre-back Matias Silvestre on loan from Palermo with a view to a permanent deal, the Rosanero have confirmed. Silvestre has only been at Palermo for one season after joining from Catania last summer but caught the eye of Serie A giants Inter. The stopper, who is under contract with the Sicilian club until June 2015, scored five goals in 29 league games. Reports in Italy claim the two teams had been in talks over a potential €8.5million (£6.8m) switch but Palermo confirmed on their official website on Friday the move will be a temporary one. Inter do, however, have the option to sign the 27-year-old defender outright next summer. Should they choose to do so it is thought they would pay the fee in four yearly instalments. Silvestre had also been linked with Inter's fierce city rivals AC Milan but the Nerazzurri have won the race for his signature.
