Sampdoria's Andrea Poli has revealed it is his dream to swap shirts with role model Steven Gerrard.
Midfield starlet Poli has earned rave reviews for some dynamic displays in recent months and has helped fire Samp to second place in Sere A after eight games of the season.
He admits he has based his style on Liverpool skipper Gerrard, who he regards as the finest player in his position in world football.
Poli will continue to watch Gerrard with interest and hopes to one day line up against him.
"My role model has always been Steven Gerrard. I think he is the best midfielder around," the 20-year-old told Tuttosport.
"My dream is to one day swap shirts with him."
