Uefa Cup Round-up: Italy

Panionios have dumped Udinese out of the Uefa Cup with a 3-2 aggregate win.

Greek side Panionios have dumped Italian side Udinese out of the Uefa Cup with a 3-2 aggregate win, despite a 1-0 second leg defeat in Stadio Friuli.

Panionios had a 3-1 lead from the first leg and their task in Thursday's second leg was made easier after a goalless first half.

Udinese's Czech Republic defender Marek Jankulovski was sent off for violent conduct nine minutes after the break to make the Italian's job of turning the match around even harder.

Despite being down to ten men, Udinese's Stefano Mauri made the tie interesting with a goal eight minutes before the end.

However, the Greeks held on to make the group stage draw of the competition.

Lazio progressed to the next stage with a 6-0 aggregate win over Ukrainian side Metalurgs Donetsk.

Fabio Liverani scored twice in the first half to give the Italians a commanding lead. Roberto Muzzi got the other goal in the 3-0 second leg win.

Parma advanced to the next stage after a 3-2 aggregate win over Maribor in Slovenia following a goalless second leg draw.
