The midfielder has joined the Giallorossi from Sampdoria, signing a contract with the club until 2008.
Tonetto had been interesting Roma coach Luciano Spalletti for a number of months and he has now landed one of the club's early transfer targets.
"The agreement is for a salary of ‚é¼1.25 million (£850,000) per season in addition to extra bonuses," a Roma statement confirmed.
Tonetto will be officially unveiled when the club return for pre-season training at the beginning of July.
