LASSISSI INJURY BLOW

ROMA'S pre-season preparations suffered a major blow when Saliou Lassissi was carried off during Tuesday's 3-1 friendly win over Boca Juniors.

The 22-year-old defender, a recent signing from Parma, is feared to have a double fracture of the lower leg and early indications are that he will not play again for at least five months.

Roma won the match thanks to one goal from Gabriel Batistuta and a Gianni Guigou brace. Over 60,000 Giallorossi fans turned up at the Stadio Olimpico to salute the new side

"I am very content but sorry for the bad injury to Lassissi," said coach Fabio Capello afterwards.

"We are working well in every way and I saw my players are determined with a desire to win that pleases me."
