Coppa Italia round-up

Internazionale, Roma and Sampdoria are all through to the semi-finals of the Coppa Italia.

Internazionale, Roma and Sampdoria are all through to the semi-finals of the Coppa Italia.

High-flying Inter, on the back of 12 consecutive Serie A wins, were always in control against Empoli following a 2-0 first leg advantage.

Empoli's mountain became even higher when Esteban Cambiasso netted after 28 minutes to virtually put the visitors out of sight.

Any hope Empoli had of an unlikely comeback ended when Mirco Gasparetto missed from the penalty spot shortly after.

World Cup winner Fabio Grosso made it a comfortable finish for Inter when he added a second with just over 15 minutes left.

After taking a 2-1 lead to Stadio Ennio Tardini, Roma's slender advantage had disappeared by half-time.

Zlatan Muslimovic's brace had the sides level on aggregate after Daniele De Rossi equalised on the half hour mark.

With extra-time looming David Pizarro (pictured) settled the contest in the 85th minute to maintain Roma's hopes of a third consecutive final.

Earlier, Sampdoria booked their semi-final spot following a 2-1 win over Chievo.

The Blucerchiati are in fine Serie A form and they have carried that success into the Coppa Italia.

Samp were always in the driving seat following a 1-0 first leg win and things got even better when Emiliano Bonazzoli (pictured) fired them ahead.

Michele Marcolini levelled matters before the break, but any hope of comeback ended when Gennaro Delvecchio found the back of the net late on.

Coppa Italia quarter-final results:
Chievo 1-2 Sampdoria (Sampdoria win 3-1 on aggregate)
Parma 2-2 Roma (Roma win 4-3 on aggregate)
Internazionale 2-0 Empoli (Inter win 4-0 on aggregate)
