Samuel handed three-game ban

Inter defender Walter Samuel has been handed a three-game ban for spitting.

Internazionale defender Walter Samuel has been handed a three-game ban for spitting at Pavel Nedved.

The incident occurs during the Italian Supercup between Inter and Juventus, when it was reported that Samuel spat at Czech ace Nedved.

The Argentinian stopper, who arrived from Real Madrid this summer, denied spitting at Nedved and the Juve man also said he was unaware of any transgression.

However, television footage was reviewed by Italian Football Federal judges who have found him guilty of the offence.

The 27-year-old has now been handed a three-game ban and will miss the start of the new Serie A season for his new club.

Coach Roberto Mancini will be unable to select Samuel for Inter's games with Treviso, Palermo and Lecce as he sits out his ban.
