The young forward has arrived in Serie A from Universidad de Chile and is jointly owned by Inter and Chievo.
He will spend the coming campaign with The Flying Donkeys as he acclimatises to the demands of European football.
Pinilla's representative Hugo Rubio has revealed the marksman will head for the Giuseppe Meazza after his induction to Italian football with Chievo.
"Pinilla was bought between Inter and Chievo," said Rubio. "Inter put in the most important part of the money and Chievo are now in charge of making him play and get adapted to calcio.
"After a year playing for Chievo, Pinilla will return to Inter.
"Mauricio is very happy because he had the wish to play in Italian football. Now, it depends on him to show his skills and all that he knows on a football pitch."
