Serie A side Parma face the prospect of a points deduction over their finances

Parma face the prospect of their second points deduction of the season if they fail to pay an estimated £19m owed in player wages as well as an unpaid tax bill.

The Serie A club had until 4pm on Monday to pay what they owe in order to avoid action from the Italian FA (FIGC) - although new owner Giampiero Manenti insists the deadline set is midnight and they will do all they can to meet it.

The club’s players have reportedly not been paid since July.

Parma were docked a point for a similar offence earlier this season while high-profile players Antonio Cassano and Felipe have already had their contacts terminated as a result of the dispute.

Last week, the Gialloblu were sold for just one euro to Giampetro Manenti, just two months after they were sold to a Russian-Cypriot conglomerate for the same price.

Parma held title-chasing Roma to a goalless draw on Sunday but a points deduction could have a devastating impact on their fortunes with the club currently bottom of Serie A on 11 points.

FIFpro, the world football players’ union, has told Sky Sports News HQ they stand by the Parma players’ fight to earn what they are contractually owe.
