Italy striker Alessandro Matri has sealed a return to Juventus on loan until the end of the season.

The 30-year-old spent the first half of the campaign on loan at Genoa from AC Milan, scoring seven goals and providing five assists in 16 league appearances.

He netted 29 goals in 83 games for Juventus between 2010 and 2013 and will replace Sebastian Giovinco, who has left to join Toronto FC.

A statement from the Serie A leaders read: "Alessandro Matri has today returned to Juventus after agreeing terms on a loan switch from Genoa until 30 June 2015.

"The striker, 30, represented the club between January 2011 and August 2013, winning back-to-back Scudetto and Super Coppa titles during a successful period in Turin."

Juve sold Matri to Milan in the summer of 2013 for 11million euros but he endured a disappointing spell with the Rossoneri and went out on loan to Fiorentina and Genoa.

Matri becomes Juve's first signing of the winter transfer window. The Old Lady lead the Serie A standings, seven points clear of Roma, and are in the semi-finals of the Coppa Italia and last 16 of the Champions League.
