Italian club close in on Lugano

Juventus are one of several clubs looking to sign Fenerbahce defender Diego Lugano. The 30-year-old is on the verge of moving away from the Turkish club after a five-year spell. He signed a four-year contract in 2009, but it is understood that clubs are willing to pay a fee to acquire his services. Lugano's agent, Juan Figer told calciomercato.it that the Uruguay international has plenty to consider. He said: "Diego is an in-demand player and we have received offers from many European clubs. "In Italy, we've only spoken to Juventus, but there are also firm offers from clubs away from Italy. "In any case, his future will be defined within the next few hours." Earlier this month, Juve had been in negotiations to sign Lugano, but the move broke down.
