Striker signs four-year deal from Boca Juniors

Genoa have confirmed the signing of striker Rodrigo Palacio from Boca Juniors for an undisclosed fee. The Argentinean striker has put pen to paper on a four-year deal with the Grifoni and joins compatriot Hernan Crespo in the club's new look strike force. Palacio will also face competition for a starting place from Sergio Floccari and is hopeful the move to European football can help his claim for a place in Diego Maradona's World Cup plans, should they qualify. The 27-year-old has eight international caps to his name on the back of a successful career in his homeland which saw him win the Apertura title in 2005 and 2008 plus the Copa Libertadores in 2007. Genoa will compete in the UEFA Europa League next season after finishing 5th in Seria A last season and have also added Robert Acquafresca, Francesco Bolzoni, Houssine Kharja and Ivan Fatic to their squad this summer.
