Serie A outfit depleted for Sunday's game against champions Inter

Roma defender Philippe Mexes has been banned for three games for insulting a referee. The suspension comes after the 26-year-old French international was sent off during his side's 1-0 defeat to Siena on 5th October. Announcing the ban, the Italian league judge ruled Mexes directed a "serious insult" at the referee when he was shown the red card. Fellow defender Christian Panucci also received his marching orders during the game, meaning the pair will now miss Sunday's game with champions Inter Milan, while captain Francesco Totti is doubtful because of injury. The absence of key players will hinder an already-struggling Roma side who currently sit in 14th place in Serie A with just seven points from their opening six matches.
