Inter Milan president Massimo Moratti says the club do not need Porto winger Ricardo Quaresma.

Mourinho accepts Moratti's decision to stop talks for winger

Inter Milan president Massimo Moratti says the club do not need Ricardo Quaresma, despite Jose Mourinho's wish to sign the winger. Porto ace Quaresma had appeared poised to move to the Giuseppe Meazza after the two clubs held talks regarding a deal. However, speaking after Inter's season-opening 1-1 draw with Sampdoria, Moratti admits he is not expecting Quaresma to join the club before the transfer window closes. "We don't need Quaresma," Moratti told the Italian media. "I don't think Quaresma will arrive. "I liked the way we played in attack against Sampdoria, so Quaresma is not necessary."

Respect

Mourinho has accepted Moratti's stance on the issue, saying: "I respect the president and the club. "They know my opinion on Quaresma and I've said many times I need an attacking winger to give us speed, but Quaresma is a Porto player and if we aren't able to sign him, I'll continue with the players we have." Reports have claimed that the failure to conclude a deal for Quaresma revolves around the inclusion of Pele in any transfer. Porto wanted a lump sum and Pele, while Inter were keen to spread out the cost of the transfer and only loan out the midfielder.
