Veteran defender completes move to Stadio Friuli

Veteran defender Luigi Sala has joined Udinese on a free transfer from Sampdoria. The 34-year-old will provide cover for the Zebrette's talented youngsters Christian Zapata and Dias Felipe, who are both currently sidelined. The powerful centre-half boasts AC Milan among his previous employers and has UEFA Champions League experience. Sala is delighted to have completed a move to a forward-thinking club and has every intention of becoming a regular fixture in the side.

Enthusiasm

"I am really happy to have signed for such an illustrious and serious club," he said. "My first meeting with the players here was incredibly positive. I already knew Fabio Quagliarella, since we have played together in the past, and I have played against many of my new team-mates in Serie A. "I hope I will be able to honour this shirt and have a great season. I am bringing my enthusiasm and experience."
