La Liga Round-up

Barcelona are again three points clear at the summit of La Liga after victory over Racing.

Champions Barcelona are again three points clear at the summit of La Liga after a Ronaldinho-inspired victory over Racing Santander.

The Brazilian ace grabbed both goals in the second half (51 & 67), as Barca continued their impressive run of recent form.

Things could have been much different for Racing had they converted a first-half penalty, but Ezequiel Garay could not convert from 12 yards.

Getafe's wonderful season continued at The Alfonso Perez, as they dispatched of Valencia 3-0.

Los Che were looking to move back into third, but they have now lost ground on the top three after going down to a pretty comprehensive defeat.

After a goalless first half, Mario Cotelo opened the scoring just a minute into the second period and it was just 12 minutes later when Dani Guiza doubled Getafe's advantage.

The win was sealed with just 11 minutes left when Nacho (pictured) fired home.

Getafe's victory took them above Recreativo de Huelva, as they succumbed 2-1 at lowly Levante.

Salva was the hero for Levante with two goals (16 & 42), as Recreativo could manage just one goal in reply, with Florent Sinama-Pongolle converting a penalty just before the hour mark.

Levante's victory takes them out of the bottom three, with Celta Vigo dropping into the relegation places - as they lost 2-0 at home to Espanyol.

Goals in either half from Luis Garcia (24) and Walter Pandiani (57) sealed the win.

The late kick-off saw Atletico Madrid secure a 1-0 win over Athletic Bilbao at The Vicente Calderon.

The only goal came from Argentine starlet Sergio Aguero just after the hour mark - the win taks Atletico level on points with fourth-placed Valencia.

Bottom of the table Gimnastic de Tarragona were undone by two late strikes, as Osasuna claimed a 3-2 win.

The Pamplona outfit went ahead on just 11 minutes thanks to Carlos Cuellar, but Gimnastic fought back with goals either side of the break from Javier Portillo and Cesar Nevas.

However, Gimnastic could not hang on, as Soldado struck twice in the final 18 minutes (72 & 75) to give Osasuna victory.

Real Mallorca eased their relegation worries with a very good 2-1 win over sixth-placed Real Zaragoza.

The visitors took the lead at the Ono Estadi, as Diego Milito pounced on 55 minutes.

Jose Nunes levelled matters on 55 minutes, and the win was sealed through Bosko Jankovic with just six minutes remaining.

Villarreal's distinctly average season continued at El Madrigal, as Deportivo La Coruna claimed a 2-0 win.

El Submarino Amarillo went behind, as Marcos Senna put through his own net on 20 minutes, and the win was sealed just 11 minutes from time when Joan Verdu pounced.

The win takes the Galician side above Villarreal into twelfth.
