Cadiz home in on duo

Cadiz are hoping to clinch the double signing of Benjamin and Antonio Pacheco.

Newly-promoted Liga side Cadiz are hoping to clinch the double signing of Real Betis midfielder Benjamin and Antonio Pacheco from Albacete by the end of the week.

Benjamin started only a handful of games for the Seville based outfit last season and Cadiz coach Victor Esparrago is hopeful that the offer of first-team football will enable him to clinch the 29-year-old's loan signing.

He said: "We are awaiting a response from Betis that will finalise everything - that could happen on Tuesday or Wednesday."

Benjamin joined Betis in 1998 from Valladolid and has been a regular in their squad but started the majority of last season's matches on the bench as the Spaniards qualified for the UEFA Champions League.

The signing of striker Pacheco may prove more problematic with Albacete valuing their prize asset at £1.5 million. Pacheco impressed may last season, scoring 12 goals for the relegated club.
