Betis eye Valcarce move

Real Betis are planning a summer swoop for Malaga defender Vicente Valcarce.

The 29-year-old is out of contract at Malaga at the end of the season and has yet to agree a new deal on the Costa del Sol.

Betis president Maunel Ruiz de Lopera has made it clear that he will not be bankrolling a major spending spree in the summer making a swoop for Valcarce on a free transfer an attractive option.

However, the 29-year-old, who has recently become captain at La Rosaleda, is known to be happy at Malaga and it will take a big effort from Betis to lure him South.

Los Verdiblancos are known to have made contact with the player after Betis director of sport Manolo Montparlet confirmed he had sounded out the left-sided full back about a move.

Betis have employed either Mingo or Luis Fernandez in their left wing back role this term but neither has completely convinced leaving boss Victor Fernandez searching for an alternative.
