Moya joy at Mallorca nod

Miguel Moya has revealed his delight at making Mallorca's number one jersey his own.

Mallorca goalkeeper Miguel Moya has spoken of his delight at making the club's number one jersey his own.

In his first full season, the 20-year-old has seen off the challenge of Dutch international Sander Westerveld - who is on loan from Real Sociedad - to establish himself as manager Benito Floro's undisputed number one.

His excellent early season form has also seen him called up to the Spain Under-21 squad, along with Mallorca team-mate Ramis.

Moya's development has been one of the bright spots in an indifferent start for The Islanders, who currently sit 15th in La Primera, and the young custodian admits he is enjoying every minute of action.

"It makes me proud that the fans, in my first year, are helping and encouraging me," he stated.

"It's nice that they recognise your merits.

"I am very happy at the confidence the manager has shown in me."
