Fredson eyes Espanyol exit

Midfielder Fredson has asked Espanyol to release him in the summer.

Midfielder Fredson has asked Espanyol to release him in the summer having rejected their offer of an extension.

The Brazilian's current contract expires at the end of the season but Espanyol have an option to extend it for a further two years.

However, the terms of the extension have not met with the player's approval and he now believes it is in his best interests to quit the Catalan outfit.

"It's a very sad situation because I am conscious I will have to look to carry on my life elsewhere," he stated.

"If they will not accept my proposal then I won't accept theirs.

"If they are not going to count on me it's better that I go, that they let me go.

"I have various offers and, given what the club has offered, it's better that I return to Brazil, earn the same money and be with my family."

Fredson has been mainly a bit-part player this term under Miguel Angel Lotina having been a key member of the team that staved off relegation last time around.
