Espanyol eye Buckley

Espanyol have joined the chase for Arminia Bielefeld striker Delron Buckley.

Espanyol have joined the chase for Arminia Bielefeld striker Delron Buckley.

The South Africa international is likely to be in demand in the summer following a sparkling season in Die Bundesliga.

Buckley's performances for Bielefeld have caught the eye of Liverpool and Manchester United, while clubs in Germany, Holland and Spain are monitoring his performances.

The 27-year-old has scored 15 goals for Bielefeld since joining the club from Bochum last year.

He is understood to have a buyout clause of ‚é¼500,000 in his Bielefeld contract and that makes him an attractive proposition for his suitors.

Spanish outfit Espanyol have already made a move to land the attacker, who possesses a German passport, after holding talks with his agent Rob Moore.

Espanyol are pushing for a spot in next season's UEFA Champions League and Moore acknowledges that is a plus point.

"The player is very interested in playing in Spain," Moore told the Spanish media.

"He knows Barcelona is a sensational city.

"Also, the situation of Espanyol with the option for European competition is more pleasant."
