Romania striker Ciprian Marica has left Stuttgart after having the final year of his contract cancelled.
The 25-year-old's deal, which was due to expire next June, was terminated by mutual consent.
Lokomotiv Moscow are now reported to be interested in the former Shakhtar Donetsk forward.
"We wish Ciprian all the best for the future," sporting director Fredi Bobic said on Stuttgart's official website.
Marica, who scored twice in Romania's victory over Bosnia and Herzegovina at the beginning of June, joined Stuttgart from Shakhtar in 2007.
