French forward had no interest in summer switch

Antoine Griezmann claims leaving Real Sociedad never crossed his mind over the summer, with game time important to him at this stage of his career. The 21-year-old forward was said to be attracting plenty of interest during the transfer window, with his obvious potential drawing admiring glances. It was reported that the youngster's head had been turned and that he was keen to try his luck elsewhere. Griezmann, though, has sought to rubbish such rumours. He insists that he remains fully committed to the club that have helped to nurture him through their youth ranks and moulded him into the player he is today. France U21 international Griezmann, who has committed his future to Sociedad until 2016, also believes that remaining with his current employers will offer him a better shot at earning a place in Dider Deschamps' World Cup plans. "I want to carry on playing and improving at Real," he told L'Equipe.

Risk

"It has never been in my thoughts to leave this summer. "I didn't want to leave and risk not playing at a new club and remaining on the bench. "My chances of going to the 2014 World Cup would then be slim. Playing at the World Cup is more important to me than moving to a big club." On his chances of earning senior international recognition in the near future, Griezmann added: "A first call-up? I am working hard to make Didier Deschamps watch my performances. "It is a target of mine to make the French squad this season. "I am only 21 and I am not saying that I am at that level, but I will do everything to try and make it happen this year."
