Hannover sign Serb

Hannover 96 have completed the signing of Serbian striker Veljko Paunovic.

Hannover 96 have completed the signing of Serbian striker Veljko Paunovic from Atletico Madrid.

The 27-year-old, who scored six goals for the Rojiblancos last term, has spent this season on the bench in the Spanish capital, but Hannover coach Ewald Lienen obviously feels he can help the club maintain their excellent form this season so far.

Paunovic has been given a contract at the AWD Arena through to June 2007.

Meanwhile out-of-favour Reds' striker Mohammadu Idrissou has left the club after agreeing a loan move to French first division outfit Caen.

The Cameroon international striker had fallen out with Hannover bosses after a series of off-field problems during his time at the club.

In other transfer news, Bundesliga new boys FSV Mainz 05 have loaned Markus Dworrak for the remainder of the season to relegation-threatened Bundesliga II outfit RW Erfurt.

The 27-year-old midfielder, who is tied to Mainz until 2007, has struggled to be a first-team option at Jurgen Klopp's team and is now keen to gain match practice in Germany's second division.
