Father feels his son is set to head back to Benfica

Rodrigo's father and agent has admitted the Bolton loan star is set to return to Benfica in the summer. The 19-year-old Brazilian-born Spanish youth international was bought by Benfica at the start of the season when they paid Real Madrid an undisclosed fee for him. But without playing a single game, he was loaned to Bolton for the season and he has featured prominently, playing in ten games so far. Trotters chief Owen Coyle has admitted he would like to make the deal permanent in order to help the young winger progress. But Rodrigo's father and agent Adalberto Machado admits his son's future is likely to be at the Estadio da Luz. "Bolton are very happy with the performances of Rodrigo and they showed interest in having him permanently," he told Renascenca. "But this is something to be dealt with by both clubs. "In the last week of January or first week of February I will go to Lisbon for talks with the Benfica president [Luis Felipe Vieira] and we will talk about Rodrigo's future. "But the idea is that Rodrigo returns to Benfica to develop his career."
