Real Madrid have shelved plans to sign a full back because of Cicinho's long-term injury.
Fabio Capello had been looking to offload the Brazilian defender, to fund new additions to his squad.
But the 26-year-old's serious knee injury means the club will have to wait before strengthening in his position.
"We have checked the market and decided the change is not necessary," the club's sporting director Pedja Mijatovic confirmed.
"The decision has been backed by the coach the market is not in the right state to be doing business at this time.
"Capello wants to view some more players for the winter transfer window, but in other positions."
