Moratti targets new striker

Internazionale supremo Massimo Moratti is in the market for a new striker.

Internazionale supremo Massimo Moratti has admitted the club are in the market for a new striker.

Moratti is drawing up the list of the club's transfer targets, but he is no rush to make any signings.

The Inter chief is ready to wait until the end of the World Cup and the conclusion of the trial in the match-fixing scandal before making his moves in the transfer market.

Moratti admitted a new striker is his top target with Fiorentina's Luca Toni a long-term target.

"I wouldn't touch this team a lot, but we will sign someone in attack," Moratti told Gazzetta dello Sport.

"We need a fifth forward and then we will put them in competition. I'd keep the other four strikers, they all deserve a chance after this difficult season.

"I'd like to see always playing Recoba, but he will have to decide if he likes the situation. Anyway, we will do something. I see Toni's negotiation as difficult, we will see."

Inter have been linked with Argentine duo Juan Roman Riquelme, Javier Mascherano and Brazil midfielder Emerson, but Moratti was remaining coy over the trio.

"Riquelme is a good player but he's an extra EU one," added Moratti. "Emerson and Mascherano ? Let's wait until the end of World Cup and the sentences of the sport justice and then we will do the point. There is no hurry."

Moratti also rejected reports suggesting Adriano and Obafemi Martins could leave the San Siro.

Real Madrid are reported to be keen on Adriano, while Martins has been linked with Valencia in a swap deal for Stefano Fiore.

Moratti has denied the rumours and is determined to keep the pair.

"Adriano has not been enquired about by anyone," noted Moratti. "I know there have been rumours about Lorenzo Sanz and players he would have in his hands. I would like to see them.

"I have a good relationship with him and I would like to keep them good with the whole of Real.

"But until now no player's name has been mentioned. Adriano has a lot to express and he must understand it personally. He's not for sale.

"So is Martins, who is untouchable. I've read I would be set to do an exchange with Fiore.

"Fiore is a good player, but would I exchange him with Martins?"
