Valdano: Solari to stay at Bernabeu

REAL MADRID sporting director Jorge Valdano has confirmed that the club would prefer to keep Santiago Solari rather than cash in on the Argentine.

Internazionale were prepared to offer ‚é¼10 million for the services of the South American wide-man as part of the bank-busting Ronaldo move but Real are keen to keep Solari at Santiago Bernabeu.

"At this moment we prefer to keep Solari instead of receiving the ‚é¼10 million that a transfer would have left to us," said Valdano.

"He is a player who we count on and in any case we still have more than a month and a half for deciding and for waiting to see what Inter, Real Madrid and the player decides, because the player also has to give his opinion."

Valdano also affirmed the club's interest in Roma defender Walter Samuel and Gabriel Milito of Independiente.

"We are interested in both defenders because Real Madrid is always very interested in good players and those two are excellent players," added the Madrid supremo.
