Sevilla president Jose Castro has rubbished the latest rumours linking Ivan Rakitic with a summer move to Real Madrid.
Despite the Croatian midfielder being tied to a contract in Andalusia, and with extension discussions being held, speculation continues to suggest that Rakitic could soon be on the move.
Premier League leaders Liverpool are among those to have been heavily linked with the 26-year-old playmaker, with Brendan Rodgers a fan of creative talents.
Sevilla have maintained throughout, though, that they have no intention of selling, and Castro insists that remains the case amid talk of a switch within La Liga circles.
He told Radio Cadena COPE: "I do not know anything about interest from Real Madrid.
"I hope that in the next week we will sit down again with Ivan and his brother and close a deal. I'm confident that Ivan will extend his contract because there is no reason to believe otherwise.
"He is happy in Seville, as are his wife and daughter. He has said that many times so I really believe that soon we will reach an agreement."
