Lopez longs for Depor switch

Sevilla midfielder Jordi Lopez has expressed his desire to join Deportivo La Coruna.

Sevilla midfielder Jordi Lopez has expressed his desire to join Deportivo La Coruna having being made available for transfer by Sevilla.

The 25-year-old had stints with both Real Madrid and Barcelona in his formative years as a professional, and it was from Real that he joined Sevilla two years ago.

However, he has not had the expected impact at Estadio Sanchez Pizjuan having made barely 20 starts in his two seasons at the club.

Sevilla, who are close to finalising a deal for Danish international midfielder Christian Poulsen, have now decided to cash in on Lopez and have put a price-tag of ‚é¼1.5 million on his head.

A number of clubs have expressed an interest in the gifted midfielder including Celta Vigo and Osasuna, but it is Deportivo who the player himself would prefer to join.

His agent claims that initial talks with the Riazor outfit are progressing well, but warned that the deal could still fall through.

"Talks with Deportivo are going well, but if lots of complications arise we could still opt for an option B," agent Raul Verdu stated.

Meanwhile, Depor are also hopeful of tying up a deal for Racing Santander goalkeeper Dudu Awat.

The Israeli international was in outstanding form last term and has long been linked with Depor, but it seems a move could finally materialise this summer.

Awat will become a free agent in 12 months' time and Racing would need to cash in on him during the close season or risk losing him for nothing next year.

Depor are ready to part with around ‚é¼3 million to land their man, but Racing have yet to green light the transfer.
