Several worries for Del Bosque

Gerard Pique could miss Spain's Confederations Cup campaign after suffering an injury. The Barcelona defender tore the abductor muscle in his left leg in Saturday's 1-1 draw with Deportivo La Coruna and had to be replaced midway though the second half. He is now expected to be sidelined for around two weeks, making him doubtful for the competition in South Africa. Spain coach Vicente del Bosque is set to name his squad on Monday and has a number of other fitness concerns. Pique's Barca team-mate Andres Iniesta is struggling with a thigh problem, while Villarreal midfielder Marcos Senna has a similar complaint. Winger Santi Cazorla is another doubt and David Silva has missed Valencia's last three games with an ankle injury. European champions Spain face New Zealand on 14th June before also taking on Iraq and hosts South Africa in Group A.
