Mallorca seal Navarro switch

Real Mallorca have signed Barcelona defender Fernando Navarro on a permanent basis.

Real Mallorca have signed Barcelona defender Fernando Navarro on a permanent basis for a nominal fee.

The 23-year-old Catalan full back had one year left on his Camp Nou deal, but was told last summer he would have no future at the club.

He therefore went out on loan to Estadio Son Moix last season, where he became a Liga regular as the Balearic Islanders finished 13th.

Mallorca manager Gregorio Manzano has signed the young Spaniard on a four-year deal, as he looks to build upon his squad.

Navarro made his first team debut for Barca during the 2001/02 season, but failed to establish himself in the side.

He was loaned out to Albacete for the 2004/05 and then returned to play a bit-part role under current Barca boss Frank Rijkaard.

After being told he had a future at the club, he was left out for several weeks and he decided to look for another club.
