Barca ace out for six weeks

Thiago Motta's bad luck continues as he will be out for six weeks.

Thiago Motta's bad luck continues as it was announced that he will be out of action for six weeks after having knee surgery on Monday, as he picked up a knock during training last week.

The Brazilian midfielder damaged the meniscus in his knee and will now face another battle for fitness having already spent the majority of the last 18 months on the treatment table.

‚Ç£The player Thiago Motta was operated on this morning using the arthroscopy technique performed by Dr Puig Adell at Hospital Asepeyo in Sant Cugat," a statement from the club's medical team read.

"The results are satisfactory and the player will be hospitalised for more or less 24 hours. He will be unable to play for about six weeks.‚Ç¥

Motta missed much of last season with a knee ligament injury before having to undergo an operation on his toes during pre-season.

He then ruled himself out for the first three months of the season after he failed to shake off a muscle injury in his thighs and only returned to the Barcelona side in mid-November.

Barca were reported to have been considering whether to keep the tough-tackling midfielder in the summer, but his injuries put paid to any suggestion of offering him to other clubs.
