Ronaldinho ready to return

Ronaldinho will return to training with Barcelona's first-team squad on Wednesday after coming through a series of tests to confirm his recovery from a thigh injury.

The Brazilian will now almost definitely return to the Barca side to face Catalan rivals Espanyol on Saturday following the news on Tuesday.

The former PSG star picked up his injury in a league clash with Real Betis a month ago and, without him, Barca have subsequently lost three and drawn one of the four leagues games they have played.

The South American's return will come as a welcome boost to under-fire boss Frank Rijkaard who has come in for criticism following the club's defeat to arch rivals Real Madrid last weekend.

Meanwhile Thiago Motta, Gerard and Patrick Kluivert have all sat out training so far this week after picking up slight knocks in the reverse to Real, but all three are expected to be fit for the forthcoming Catalan derby.
