Parma chase duo

PARMA have targeted Barcelona's Juan Roman Riquelme and Boavista goalkeeper Ricardo as potential summer recruitments.

The Serie A side are scouring for reinforcements to their squad to enable them to push for a Champions League berth next term.

Argentine playmaker Riquelme has struggled to establish himself with Barcelona since arriving at Camp Nou from Boca Juniors last summer.

Parma are believed to want the highly-rated star on a season-long loan deal although they may face competition from Italian rivals Udinese.

Speculation in Italy suggests Luciano Spalletti wants to add Riquelme to his ranks on a permanent basis, although the South American may prove difficult to prise away from Catalunya.

The Gialloblu are also tracking Portuguese international shot-stopper Ricardo, who is expected to leave Boavista in the summer.

The vanquished Uefa Cup semi-finalists are not in a position to refuse any sizeable offers for the keeper, particularly with Ricardo keen to enhance his international prospects with a move to a bigger profile club.

Parma may perceive Ricardo to be an ideal replacement for Sebastien Frey, who has been heavily linked with a summer switch to Arsenal.
