Agent insists French midfielder going nowhere in January

French midfielder Lassana Diarra will not be leaving Spanish giants Real Madrid in the January transfer window, his agent confirmed on Tuesday. The 25-year-old was left out of the Real squad for Sunday's 1-1 draw with Almeria, increasing speculation that the France international is on his way out of the Bernabeu. However, Diarra's agent John Williams insists the former Chelsea and Arsenal man is set to stay put at least until the end of the season. "He is not going to move from Real Madrid," Williams told Spanish daily Marca.

Professionalism

"The coach (Jose Mourinho) has never questioned his professionalism or the work rate of Lass in training sessions and the player is happy in Madrid. "He will continue working hard to try to get a place in the starting line-up." Diarra has slipped down the pecking order at Madrid following the summer signing of Germany international Sami Khedira and had been strongly linked with a return to England with Manchester United or Tottenham. Paris St Germain were also thought to be interested in taking Diarra back to his homeland but Williams played down the link, declaring: "No-one from PSG has contacted me." Madrid signed Diarra from Portsmouth in January 2009 for a fee of around €20 million (£18.88m).
