Sevilla striker would welcome move back to Italy

Sevilla striker Javier Chevanton has admitted that he may return to former club Lecce should they want him back. The Uruguayan is not in the plans of the Primera Liga club next season and appears ready to leave Spain to rejoin Lecce, where he played for three years. The 30-year-old enjoyed a successful spell with the Serie A club, scoring 48 goals in 92 games before joining Monaco in 2004 and then Sevilla in 2006. Chevanton had a spell on loan with Atalanta last season, scoring two goals in the final four months of the campaign, but admits a move back to the team where he made his name was tempting.

Waiting

"Finally I am going to decide where I am going to play. My agent is Paco Casal and I have said to him that if nothing appears or I don't like what I am offered I will stay without playing," he told radio Sport 890. "I am waiting to see what I am offered. It will have to be something like that because if it doesn't have a good project I will stay where I am. "I don't want to go and play anywhere, I don't need that, I want to be comfortable in the place where I decide to go, for example, I am not going to play in Arabia, I am not interested. "I know that the coach of Lecce is interested in having me in his team and that everyone there will receive me with their arms opened, but I have to wait and see what happens because at the moment there isn't any important news about that chance. "If something is arranged for me to play there I would go at once. I have very nice memories from the time that I had been at Lecce, people like me very much."
