Fabio Cannavaro says Kaka and Cristiano Ronaldo 'will not solve the internal problems' at Real.

Former Los Blancos defender sounds caution over signings

Former Real Madrid defender Fabio Cannavaro has warned that the signings of Kaka and Cristiano Ronaldo 'will not solve the internal problems' at the club. Experienced centre-back Cannavaro spent three seasons at Real and parted company with the side at the end of last season, re-joining Juventus for the 2009/10 campaign. Real president Florentino Perez has already landed Kaka from AC Milan for £56million while he has had a world-record bid of £80m accepted for Manchester United forward Cristiano Ronaldo. Cannavaro, though, is not convinced the addition of the two stars will be enough to ensure the club compete with Barcelona, who were a dominant force last season. "The club is going to have to do more because these players will not solve the internal problems," said Cannavaro, who is currently with the Italy squad in South Africa building up to the Confederations Cup.

Group mentality

"The most important thing for the team is to achieve a group mentality." He continued: "They are incredible figures, astronomical ones, especially in a world crisis as we are experiencing now. "But those figures reflect the club culture of always being accustomed to being the best." Cannavaro expects Real Madrid president Florentino Perez's shopping spree to continue. "I think Madrid need five signings," he said. "Most of them in attack, as that is Real Madrid's playing mentality."
