Frenchman tipped to join Real Madrid

Zinedine Zidane has told Real Madrid to do everything they can to land Franck Ribery from Bayern Munich. The Bundesliga champions have repeatedly insisted the talented playmaker is not for sale but that has not helped to quell speculation about his future. The likes of Manchester United and Barcelona have been strongly linked with the Frenchman in recent weeks. According to Le 10 Sport, Chelsea are also among the frontrunners in the chase for Ribery's signature with owner Roman Abramovich known to be a big fan. However, Zidane would like his compatriot to follow in his footsteps and join Real when the transfer window reopens. Zidane, who could become a special adviser to Real chairman candidate Florentino Perez, believes Ribery would greatly improve the team. "I hope he will want to come to Real Madrid," Zidane told Canal+. "It is better to have such a player in your team. If he gets an agreement to leave, he may want to play in Spain. "Everything has to be done for him to sign at Madrid. The aim is to regain prestige for the club. His signature could help."
