Sevilla striker Arouna Kone is expected to miss a large slice of the new Liga season due to injury.
The 24-year-old suffered a serious knee injury in Wednesday's 2-1 friendly win over Guinea in Paris.
Sevilla have now confirmed Kone tore the cruciate ligament and meniscus in his left knee just ten minutes into the contest, leaving him with a probable six-month spell on the sidelines recovering.
Kone, who was due to return to Spain on Thursday, is expected to undergo further examinations in order to determine whether surgery is necessary.
Either way the 24-year-old former PSV Eindhoven ace will be lucky to see first-team action before the turn of the New Year.
