Barcelona have claimed Villarreal defender Martin Caceres has agreed a move to Camp Nou.

Uruguayan concurs on terms at Camp Nou

Barcelona have claimed Villarreal defender Martin Caceres has agreed a four-year deal to move to Camp Nou. The Uruguayan stopper is widely regarded to be one of the most promising young players in Spain and the deal is thought to be worth in the region of 16.5million euros (£13million). Caceres becomes Barcelona's third recruit for next season after Spanish defender Gerard Pique from Manchester United, and Malian midfielder Seydou Keita from Sevilla. New Barca coach Pep Guardiola is keen to stamp his own mark on the Catalan club and is expected to make more signings over the summer.

One in, one out

It is anticipated the player will put pen-to-paper on a contract in the next few days. Heading in the other direction, into Villarreal, is New York Red Bulls striker Jozy Altidore after the Spanish outfit agreed a transfer deal for the teenager with Major League Soccer. The 18-year-old has already made three appearances for the USA national team and scored his first goal against Mexico in February.
