On-loan midfielder acknowledges injury troubles

Manuel Fernandes admits he is unsure whether he will be joining Everton on a permanent basis in the summer. The Portuguese midfielder returned for a second spell at Goodison Park in January after struggling to make an impact at Valencia. Fernandes has been hampered by injuries as he looks to convince manager David Moyes to make a second attempt to sign him on a long-term deal. He started Sunday's 1-0 win over Derby County and is now aiming to feature in Everton's run-in to press his claims to Moyes.

Chance

"Nothing has been said on my own future," Fernandes told the Liverpool Daily Post. "I'm just going to play these five games and try to do my best, try to help the team and try to produce better performances as soon as possible. "We don't have too many people to play in midfield at the moment, so it's probably going to be a chance for me." The 22-year-old acknowledged his injury problems since linking up with Everton, but is confident he is now fully fit again.
Disappointing
He added: "It's been a little bit disappointing for me. Things are starting to get better, but when you get injured it's always a blow. "I'm just trying to get past that and help in the five games ahead. "The injury has been related to both my groin and the previous surgery I've had for a hernia. Now things are settling down, so I feel much better."
