Midfielder's agent calls for improved terms

Jesus Navas' agent has called upon Sevilla to open negotiations over a new contract as he believes the rising star deserves to be in line with the club's big earners. Navas has become a regular in the Sevilla side over the last two years and has been instrumental in helping the club achieve success. However, the 21-year-old is still on the same wages as when he broke into the first team and his representative Jaime Rodriguez de Moya wants that to change. "Jesus Navas is one of the worst paid players in the squad right now," de Moya said in the Spanish press. "He has the same contract as when he was a youngster. "We think that the time has come to pay him according to his current status, because he is not being valued properly."

Homesickness

Rumours have surfaced that Sevilla are unwilling to offer Navas a new deal until he completely overcomes his homesickness. The problem was highlighted in the summer when Navas pulled out of the club's tour of America, and he has been unable to play in European games this season because he cannot stand to be away from Sevilla for too long. Navas is having treatment for his anxiety and de Moya does not believe it should be a factor in Sevilla's decision. He explained: "It would seem slightly unusual if this was taken into account when his displays on the pitch have been ten out of ten and he has played very game. "If the club wants to renew then it could all be solved in a couple of weeks."
