Sevilla starlet homesick

Jesus Navas will miss Sevilla's tour of the United States due to homesickness.

Sevilla midfielder Jesus Navas will not go on the club's tour of the United States because he suffers from homesickness.

The 21-year-old has already informed the club that he will stay away from the trip abroad for the third season in succession.

"He is not going to go to Chicago and it is very difficult," said Navas' agent Jesus Rodriguez de Moya.

"He cannot go, but the club will be given a full explanation of the reasons."

While that move has again caused unrest for the UEFA Cup winners, if Navas were not to travel to Marbella to join the squad in their preparations for the Spanish Super Cup then he could be in trouble.

Sevilla are due to play Real Madrid in the prestigious two-legged event, which begins on August 12th, and coach Juande Ramos is becoming increasingly concerned about Navas' anxiety disorder.

Ramos has been understanding over Navas' situation, but he would have difficulty supporting the player should he fail to travel to Marbella.

According to reports, Navas has also not been called into Spain squads in the past because of his inability to travel and a new contract offer has been withdrawn by Sevilla until he assures them that he will fulfil his duties.

Navas' place in the Sevilla squad is now under threat, due to the summer arrival of Tom De Mul, but the club have told the youngster that if he can overcome his homesickness then they will double his current salary.
