Valenciennes want stopper

Valenciennes coach Antoine Kombouare is looking to sign a central defender.

Valenciennes coach Antoine Kombouare is looking to sign a central defender before the start of the new Ligue 1 season.

Maxence Flachez and Ludovic Liron have moved to Grenoble and Reims respectively.

Former Sedan duo Gregory Puyol and David Ducourtioux have joined VA this summer and Kombouare is looking to add a couple more players this summer.

"We are waiting for one or two more players to have our full squad," he told the club's official website.

"Our priority is to find a stopper able to replace Maxence Flachez and Ludovic Liron, and we will see if there are other opportunities."

Meanwhile, Valenciennes strikers Freddy Bourgeois and Eric Hassli have left the club.

Bourgeois has signed for Ligue 2 side Dijon, while Hassli has returned to Switzerland with FC Zurich.
