Stuttgart sign Serb

Stuttgart have snapped up PSG striker Danijel Ljuboja on a season-long loan.

Stuttgart have snapped up Paris Saint Germain striker Danijel Ljuboja on a season-long loan.

Ljuboja has been expected to quit the French giants for some after failing to shine during his 18 months at Parc des Princes.

The former Strasbourg ace snubbed offers from Fiorentina and Osasuna, while Bolton Wanderers, Tottenham Hotspur, Rangers and Deportivo La Coruna all purportedly made an enquiry.

But the Serbia & Montenegro international has settled on a move to Stuttgart, which could turn into a permanent arrangement next summer.

He is looking forward to the prospect of working with coach Giovanni Trapattoni, who first spotted Ljuboja's ability while he was in charge of the Italian national team.

"Trapattoni wanted me," Ljuboja told Le Parisien.

"He said to me that he had noticed me at the time of the match in Serbia when he was the Italy coach.

"Stuttgart is the third or fourth biggest club in Germany.

"I always said that if I left Paris it would be for a club of equivalent standing. With Stuttgart, that is the case."

Ljuboja completed his move to Stuttgart on Thursday after successfully coming through a medical on Wednesday.
