Deschamps confirms new deal

Didier Deschamps has confirmed he is remaining at Monaco for at least another three seasons.

The former World Cup winner was linked with the jobs at his former clubs Chelsea and Juventus, but has instead renewed his contract in the Principality. The new deal is scheduled to run until 2007.

"The adventure continues," he said. "We're going to try to keep a competitive team as well as the players who have been approached like Jerome Rothen and Ludovic Giuly.

"Our great campaign last season must give us the ambition to do even better the next."

The UEFA Champions League finalists risk losing Rothen to Paris Saint Germain and skipper Giuly to Barcelona.

Deschamps received certain guarantees from the Monaco board that convinced him to prolong his stay at Stade Louis II.
