Jurietti handed lengthy ban

MONACO defender Franck Jurietti has been suspended for eight games after threatening a referee.

The 27-year-old stopper was sent off during the game against St-Priest last month, and was then accused of directing abusive and threatening behaviour towards the match official.

The French League's disciplinary committee has reviewed the accusations and found against the player, slapping an eight-match ban on him.

Former Bastia man Jurietti will now miss several important weeks for the Principality side as they continue their push for the title.

Monaco coach Didier Deschamps will appeal the decision immediately as he is desperate to keep all his squad available for the upcoming fixtures.

Jurietti's ban also includes reserve team fixtures meaning he is unable to keep himself fit and will lack match practice once he returns from his hefty ban, should it be upheld.
