Magpies boss turns to free agent French striker

Alan Pardew has confirmed Newcastle United are interested in free agent striker Jeremie Aliadiere to solve their striking crisis. The Magpies' frontline has been decimated recently following the sale of Andy Carroll and the suspected fractured cheekbone suffered by Shola Ameobi. Pardew is left with just Leon Best, Nile Ranger and Peter Lovenkrands as attacking options and he is scouring the market to bolster his numbers. The former Southampton and Charlton boss has now targeted ex-Middlesbrough man Aliadiere, who has been without a club since last summer. Pardew has confirmed that the 27-year-old is an option for the St James' Park side as he looks to land a striker. "It is a possibility," confirmed Pardew. "We have to explore every avenue. We are short on bodies."
